What is bibloi.com?
  The website http://www.bibloi.com ("www.bibloi.com", "bibloi.com") is a
non-profit website that contains the writings of Boyd van Hoeij. On
www.bibloi.com he publishes for your perusal his thoughts about 'things
cultural' he has encountered. His book- and film-reviews are not necessarily
full-fledged critical analyses of works of literature or film (such as one could find
in any quality newspaper or online publication), but rather the (critical)
response of one individual to a work in these domains, which might concentrate
more heavily on certain points of interest and may leave others completely
aside. Be warned that the film- and book reviews may contain "spoiler" material
if this is relevant to this individual's response. Normally this will be indicated at
the beginning of the review or in the relevant paragraph. Things that come up
in the first third of the novel or in the first half hour of the film are not
considered "spoilers".

If bibloi.com is a non-profit website, why are there advertisements on
the pages?
The revenues from the advertisements help to cover the cost of maintaining a
website and adding new content, as well as paying for server-space and
bandwidth. By clicking on the advertisements provided or buying books from
partner amazon through the links provided, you help cover the costs of running
the website. There is also the possibility to donate any amount you like to keep
bibloi.com up and running; just use the 'donate' button in the left-hand column.

Who runs bibloi.com?
Boyd van Hoeij is an Art History and Classics student at the British Open
University. At the age of fifteen he started as a freelance journalist for several
local newspapers produced by
Grafia, a company in Boyd's native Holland. He
has never stopped writing since. The picture above is a recent photograph
taken during a visit of the Frans Hals museum in Haarlem (Netherlands).

Why is bibloi.com called bibloi.com?
The most frequent of the FAQs. Originally, Boyd's thoughts about cultural
things he encountered (theatre, film, books, opera, music, museums and so on)
were confined to small black books which were affectionately called 'bibloi',
ancient Greek for 'books' and the root of the word for the Holy Christian
Scriptures: the Bible. It seemed a good name for the site as it is short and
different from many other sites with similar subjects.
